Life is full of distractions…Unfortunaltely, is is very difficult in our present day of instant communications to find the time for personal introspection. Strangely enough, today’s instant communication devices were supposed to save us time and free us up to enjoy our lives. But instead, they often consume our lives. And although we have better communication devices, we have worse communication.
Insecurity is the opposite of inspiration and certainly doesn’t lead to much self-confidence. If we are insecure, we doubt our self worth or our abilities, and we will lack confidence to act on what’s inside us. Insecurity causes people to look to things outside themselves to give their lives meaning and purpose. Unfortunately…
Confidence comes from knowing that God made us and is with us in all that we do. Spirit gives us self-confidence.
Suppose that we believe God made us perfect human beings and that God loves us and wants us to be happy more than anything else in the whole universe. Think of the self-image and self-confidence we would possess knowing that God made us and loves us no matter what we’ve ever done in our lives.
We learn not only from formal education but also from life experiences. What we learn can be positive or negative, depending on what experiences we have.
We may have learned lessons that were completely compatible with our gifts and talents. These experiences helped us develop them and prepared us for using them. On the other hand,
One of the greatest motivators in my life has been faith that what I’m doing is God’s will for me.
This may sound strange to you, but when I was a child of about five, God spoke to me and told me that I was to be a teacher. As an Adult, when I was a professor, every day that I went into class, I remembered that this was what God wanted me to do.
We need to manage our thoughts every day, every minute of every day. We need to take this action on a regular basis and not just when something is bothering us. Usually we are not aware of our attitude so managing it in advance is beneficial. But, like any management tool it works best if we do it on an ongoing basis. If we were to take time every day to develop a great attitude we would have dramatic effects within a short period of time.
This “Attitude of Gratitude” is so powerful because it changes the way we look at everything in our life. You can’t feel angry, bitter or resentful when you are feeling grateful. When you feel grateful you are focused on what is good in your life and that will push out what is bad. This is the amazing thing, when we think about being grateful it literally pushes the negative feelings out of us.
Where I grew up in Nova Scotia in Eastern Canada, there were spruce trees everywhere. They were like weeds. If you left a field untended for a few years it would be covered with little spruce trees. If you walked into the woods you usually found spruce trees everywhere and in every size.
One summer a little boy went to spend his vacation with his family at a seaside cottage. The little boy was 5 at the time and he was excited to learn how to swim. When they arrived he opened the car door and ran to the beach to see the ocean.
