Can You Make a Difference?

Of Souls and Starfish…

As I was walking along the beach at dawn, I noticed a young man ahead of me picking up starfish and flinging them into the ocean. Finally, I caught up with the youth and asked him why he was doing this.

The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun.

“But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish,” I said almost in protest at the absurdity of trying to save all the starfish.

“How can your efforts make a difference?” I asked.

The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it into the safety of the waves.

“It makes a difference to that one” he said.

We don’t have to change the whole world, just as many as we can.

I encourage you to make a difference in the lives of other people but don’t try to help all 7 billion on earth. Just change the lives of the people in your life.
